It has been an exciting week for us as the organisers of the Pete Hayes Handsworth 10k Fun Run. After a few months of rest after the efforts to bring together everything for the 2014 event, we have begun preparations for the next one in September.
We were able to meet with Donna Stokes from the British Heart Foundation this week, a wonderful person who gave us so much support and encouragement last year. She gave us the news that because of the success of the first event and the fact that we raised so much money for the charity, that we will be recognised as an official BHF event and receive increased support to put it together.
Obviously, the fundraising efforts were yours, we could only put on the event, none of the fundraising could have happened without the commitment and generosity of the people who entered the event.
It is very exciting to think about the potential of what can be done this year. All of the benchmarks are there now, lessons learned from the first year and extra support already in place. One of the best aspects is that the run will be soon appearing on the British Heart Foundation website and they will also be handling the advance entries for the run in 2015.
It really is time to stay tuned. All of the preparations are taking place and you will find out at some point soon when the event is open for entry. The 10k run was a success because of all the people that joined us on the day. We hope that you will be there again in September to share the good feeling again. If you are not on the mailing list for the 2015 event, just sign up following the link above. Of course, we will be looking for volunteers again, so if you want to put in your name early email [email protected].
The greatest of thanks from the organisers of the 2014 event: Tonia Clark, Rachel Chiu, Emma Hayes, Tony Hayes and John Hayes.
